What makes the ATL Airport District a great place for faith-based meetings?
The ATL Airport District, the vibrant cluster of cities between Downtown Atlanta and the world’s most traveled airport, is convenient from anywhere and connected to everywhere – allowing groups to focus on what matters while gathering. Our atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, embracing people from all walks of life. The District has volunteering opportunities where attendees can support nonprofits and community initiatives and enjoy a well-rounded gathering while making a difference. Additionally, our destination is home to a variety of faith-based institutions. Faith-based groups will also find unique dining, entertainment, and attractions to enjoy post-meeting.
What are some of ATL Airport District’s unique and major meeting spaces?
Our destination is home to many unique and prominent venues, with many near the airport on the Gateway Center Campus, including the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC). The GICC is within close proximity to six Gateway Center hotels, making it easy for groups to go from the airport to meeting to relaxing in no time. Other notable event spaces with a wow factor include the Delta Flight Museum, the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta, the Academy Theatre, and over 30 hotels with flexible meeting space options located throughout the area. With easy access from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and a range of transportation and mobility options, hosting your gathering at one of these one-of-a-kind facilities will make it truly unforgettable.
What are some cultural and recreational experiences that faith-based groups would enjoy?
The District offers a wide range of activities and attractions for faith-based groups. Culturally, attendees can take in art and explore thought-provoking exhibitions at local and nearby museums and cultural centers such as the Hapeville Depot Museum, PushPush Arts, the APEX Museum, the High Museum of Art, and the National Center for Civil & Human Rights. Groups can get a behind-the-scenes look at the history of America’s popular restaurant chain known for the “original chicken sandwich” on the Chick-fil-A Backstage Tour.
Recreationally, the fun is endless here, especially with Atlanta nearby. Groups can explore the 33-mile Atlanta Beltline, catch baseball games at Truist Park, get up close with wildlife at Zoo Atlanta, and more. We have something for everyone in the District.
What are new enhancements of interest to event planners?
We have many enhancements coming to our destination that attendees meeting here will love. Several restaurants have opened recently—adding more delectable dining options for attendees to try. These eateries include Buttermilk Biscuit, The Jerk Shop, Junior’s Pizza, Paper Plane, and The Breakfast Boys. Visitors can also try some of the most exceptional Black-owned eateries in Atlanta found in Historic Downtown College Park, some of which are in a concentrated area on Main Street. Enjoy a variety of cuisine styles, from Gullah Geechee soul food to indulgent brunch fare.
Moreover, the ground has broken for a new Gateway Pedestrian Bridge and Trail Project, which is set to be completed by the end of 2024. The new bridge will make accessing our meeting hotels, restaurants, and attractions easier for attendees.
