ADD CHARITABLE ENGAGEMENT TO YOUR EVENT
Many of us want to include opportunities to serve and give at our events but aren’t sure where to start. Aventri, a leader in event management technology, provides some great ideas on their blog. Here are a few that we love:
Interactive Serving
Invite a spokesperson from a local charity to speak, exhibit, and provide an interactive serving opportunity at your event. Allow your attendees to get involved and see first-hand how their contribution can make a difference. SXSW conference partnered with local organizations to give participants a chance to walk shelter dogs to raise money for the local animal shelters!
Wellness With a Cause
Attendees like to find ways to stay healthy while traveling. Many events are incorporating meditation, yoga and even 5K runs. Why not add a charitable aspect to these activities? Select a charity to support. Then seek out local instructors and businesses to sponsor the event. Attendees will love giving back and improving their health at the same time!
Social Media Participation
An easy way to drive engagement is to ask participants to take action and share it with a custom hashtag. Participant posts could be projected on screens during or prior to sessions. One conference challenged participants to go straw-less during the event, and post images with a hashtag like #AventriGoesStrawless. For every image posted, a sponsor donated toward an environmental charity.
