Now and Then Tour

Once a cotton and textile town, Charlotte has reinvented itself time and time again. While touring Uptown, witness the transformations for yourself: Former textile factories now serve as urban living concepts, and Victorian estates neighbor Craftsman-style bungalows. Relive the rich history of the region through the award-winning permanent exhibit Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers at the Levine Museum of the New South. Guests can experience a civil rights era sit-in at a lunch counter and try on a hat in an early Belk department store. Then make a quick stop at the 7th Street Public Market, North Carolina’s first food hall which provides high-quality, fresh and affordable food from local farms and regional purveyors.
