Wellbeing for Conferences

The University of Birmingham (UK) shared an informative article entitled, 10 Wellbeing Activities for Conferences. The author reminded us, “While a conference offers great opportunities to network, share expertise and gain more from leaders in the field, it can also be a pressurized environment. Conditions like depression and social anxiety can make a busy setting, filled with new faces and noise, a real challenge.”

The article has many suggestions on how planners can support attendees’ well-being. One idea is to add ‘brain foods’ to your catering plans, such as walnuts, avocados, quinoa, blueberries, and spinach. Another is to incorporate a gratitude wall, where participants can take note of their ‘gratitudes’ on paper and post them on a wall. Mindful walks and Walk and Talks are also great ways to foster connections while encouraging movement.
